This article describes a simple but effective process that you can follow every day to help clarify your goals and intentions.
Most of us have never had someone sincerely ask us "What do you want?" It's a question that kind of throws us!
Some fun mind-games that we can play include asking ourselves "If I could have anything I want, what would it be?" and "If I could do anything that I wanted and knew that I wouldn't fail, what would I do?"
The mind is a muscle and parts of it that we don't exercise much sometimes need conditioning. Here is a simple exercise that you can do every day to help "pump up" that intention-muscle of yours!
- Pick a time, 15-20 minutes every morning or evening to do this.
- Take out some clean sheets of paper and at the top of one write the date and the words "What I Want".
- Now, for 10 minutes (you could start at 5 minutes and work your way up to 10 minutes) just let your mind wander and write down what you want. Anything goes!
- Don't worry about how you would get it, or whether you "deserve" it or whether it's excessive...just write!
- After the 10 minutes (or 5 minutes or whatever you're up to) put that piece of paper away.
- Now take out another piece of paper, write the date at the top and the words "What I Am Grateful For"
- Now, for 10 minutes write about what you are grateful for, again, just letting the words flow.
- This "Gratitude" exercise gets some very good energy flowing through you and into your intention process.
- At the end, put everything away.
- Repeat the next day for at least 30 days.
As you continue with this process, you will see your "wants" change and refine. Some things will repeat, some things may only show up once and never again.
Do not look at your previous "Want Lists" for at least 30 days.
At the end of the 30 days, look at your previous "Want Lists" from 30 days ago. They will likely fall into 3 categories:
Things I have received Things I am in the process of receiving Things I don't need/want anymore
We are setting intentions for the world around us all of the time. Often, what we want has subconscious energy working on it already!
What this exercise will really do for you is help you to discover something about yourself. Something about your goals and what you are passionate about.
And with this clarity, you can become a much better creator of the world in which you live! |
