The Seattle Times reported that a cougar that was spotted in Discovery Park in Magnolia has been trapped.
According to officials in the Washington state Department of Fish and Wildlife, they are headed to the North Cascades to release the animal.
The story immediately brought to mind the recent decision to allow the hunting and killing of wolves in the state of Idaho.
Since humans first appeared on the planet, we have struggled to figure out how we fit. Where we fit.
We do a good job clearing away nature to make room for more of us. We can kill it or move it, but nature has a way of making its way back in.
Some of us see nature as "in our way", so we look for ways to get it out of our way. Some of us see ourselves as living in harmony with nature, so we look for "eco-friendly" habitats.
I chuckle when I remember that we are just "nature", too! So I wonder how another species would treat us if they thought that WE were in their way?
Oh, yeah, we've done that movie...over and over! How's that go again? They come to our planet, want our resources, kill/eat us to get us out of the way.
Sometimes we fight back...sometimes we win...at least, for a little while.
Hmm...funny how the stories we make up for our entertainment reflect our view of life!
My view of life is that there is enough for everybody and everything.
